Apr 30, 2008 (newstodate): Closed to foreigners since 2001, the Russian industrial city Norilsk in the Krasnoyarsk region will get three new airlinks to Moscow.
Aeroflot, VIM-Avia and Kavminvodyavia will start operations between Norilsk and Moscow from May 16, June 16, and April 26, respectively.
Offering a total of 10 weekly connections, Aeroflot will operate at Moscow Sheremetyevo, VIM-Avia at Moscow Vnukovo, and Kavminvodyavia at Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
Norilsk, north of the arctic circle, is a center of Russia's nickel production, and home to Russia's intercontinental missile bases.
