Apr 3, 2008 (newstodate): Armenia's Yerevan Zvartnots Airport is seeking a role as a future transfer airport for international passengers.
The airport has now been modernised to accomodate passengers at international standards, so the issue is to convince international airlines to consider Zvartnots Airport as a viable option for transferring passengers primarily to and from Europe, to airlines serving other markets in the region.
In 2007 the airport handled a total of 1,387,002 passngers, up 23.1 percent, y-o-y.
Armavia's passenger volume grew 25.6 percent, Austrian Airlines' was up 14.8 percent, while British Airways' dropped 8.1 percent.
