Mar 10, 2008 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines has decided to install winglets on its entire fleet of Boeing 737-300 and -500 aircraft.
Winglets have already been installed on two aircraft, and a total of five aircraft will be upgraded before the end of this year.
Winglets reduce engine maintenance costs and cut take-off and approach noise levels by 6.5 percent, in addition to reducing fuel burn by five percent.
UIA currently operates a fleet of 15 Boeing 737 aircraft.
