Mar 27, 2008 (newstodate): Russia's Rostov-on- Don Airport saw its cargo volumes up by 53.2 percent during January-February, 2008.
The airport handled a total of 622 tonnes of cargo and mail, with cargo on international routes rising more than 200 percent to 166 tonnes, while domestic cargo increased 36.5 percent to 456 tonnes.
The significant increase in cargo and mail volumes were due to more freighter flights, and more traffic by carriers including Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Sky Express and S7 Sibir Airlines.
Situated in the southern part of Russia, Rostov-on-Don Airport has one 2,500 m concrete runway.
