Mar 31, 2008 (newstodate): Slovakia's Bratislava Airport is to be modernised.
The Slovak government has decided to allocate 151 mio euro to a project that includes construction of a new passenger terminal and a modernisation of the airport infrastructure.
Designed in two stages, the full modernisation project is to be completed by 2012.
The government is also considering a plan to turn the state-owned airport into a JV with a private partner after turning down the earlier government's plan for a full privatisation of the airport.
Vienna Airport was close to winning the earlier tender for Bratislava Airport, and is expected to renew its interest in the airport under the new government's conditions as well.
Bratislava Airport generated some two million passengers in 2007, expects to hit three million by 2010, rising to six million in 2020.
