Mar 28, 2008 (newstodate): The infrastructure of Russia's Black Sea airport at Sochi is to be further upgraded.
After being privatised in November 2006, transferring ownership from state to Sochi city government, the airport will start extension of its 2,200 m runway by 510 meter, allowing it to handle large aircraft such as Boeing 747 and IL-96-300.
The construction work is expected be completed by the end of 2008.
Also in the plans are new passenger terminal facilities to be completed by mid-2008.
