Mar 31, 2008 (newstodate): Russia's Yekaterinburg Airport expects to see its passsenger volumes increasing by 50 percent, y-o-y, during the coming summer season.
A number of new airlines are to start operations into Yekateringburg, including Polet, Volga Air and Kazan Aircraft Enterprise, with among others Finnair to arrive later during the summer program.
Also some 20 percent of the airport's current operators are planning to increase frequencies on existing routes, as well as adding flights to new destinations.
After the modernisation of the airport, 75 percent of all aircraft are now parking at gates with telescope jetbridges, and only various Russian-built aircraft unsuitable for jetbridge handling are served with manual ladders and remote parkings.
