Mar 11, 2008 (newstodate): Russia's Astrakhan Narimanovo Airport is facing a temporary operational limitation and eventually a full closure due to a runway reconstruction project.
The airport's 2,500 m runway will be resurfaced and re-equipped with new lighting systems, forcing traffic to be limited from now till June 26, after which a total closure will be enforced until June 26, 2008.
The airport is served by airlines including S7, Aeroflot, UTAir and Astrakhan Airlines, and services will be re-directed to other airports including Elista International Airport and Volvograd International Airport.
