Mar 27, 2008 (newstodate): By now, two MD-11F freighters in Aeroflot Cargo livery have so far been seen at Finnair's facilities in Helsinki, but they are still not in service with the carrier.
Aeroflot Cargo refuses to comment on the delayed EIS of the converted aircraft, but speculations are that the acceptance of the freighters has been blocked by the Russian government's recent refusal to allow registration and certification of imported western-built aircraft older than 15 years.
If the assumption holds true, the situation is critical for Aeroflot that already has to pay monthly lease without being able to exploit the cargo aircraft in commercial service.
