Mar 25, 2008 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo's forced move of its cargo hub from Astana, Kazakhstan, to Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, may bring also economic benefits.
Calculations are that some 10 minutes flying time may be saved in both dicretions on the carrier's freighter flights between Europe and Asia, translating into considerable fuel savings.
Astana is currently Lufthansa Cargo's second largest freighter hub, after Frankfurt, with 6-8 daily MD-11F operations.
