Mar 11, 2008 (newstodate): The Latvian airline airBaltic is facing the largest fleet expansion in the companys history with the SAS Group decision to acquire eight Q400 aircraft for airBaltic.
In addition to the eight firm orders, SAS has also secured a further four options, with aircraft deliveries starting in November 2009.
The Q400 will gradually replace the carrier's current fleet of eight Fokker F50 aircraft.
In 2008, airBaltic will also add two medium-haul Boeing 757-200 and three Boeing 737-300 aircraft.
airBaltic's fleet now acomprises ten Boeing 737500, and three Boeing 737-300 plus the Fokker aircraft.
