Mar 27, 2008 (newstodate): Sweden's Norrkoping Airport may rest assured that Icelandair Cargo has no imminent plans to move its freighter service to Stockholm Arlanda.
The carrier started operations with exports of Icelandic horses from Keflavik Airport, Iceland, to Norrkoping from April 2, 2007, while plans initially were for operations to go to Stockholm Arlanda.
-We intend to keep the Boeing 757-200F freighter at Norrkoping since Stockholm Arlanda is no longer licenced as entry-point for live animals like horses, says Petur J Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo managing director.
-As is well known, Stockholm Arlanda lost its licence, forcing us to make the change.
Icelandair Cargo's freighter brings in the loads of horses and accepts Swedish export cargo for US destinations on its return flight, with cargo capacity sold by the carrier's cargo GSA, Scandinavian AirBridge.
