Mar 12, 2008 (newstodate): Estonia's Tallinn Airport continued its strong growth in cargo volumes during this year's first two months.
In January-February, 2008, the airport handled a total of 5,413 tonnes of cargo and mail, up no less than 235.7 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the hike was imports that accrued to a total of 5,034 tonnes, rising 289.1 percent.
Cargo charter traffic was the driver, with 4,537 tonnes, almost exclusively import shipments, and accounting for 86 percent of all cargo handled at the airport.
65 percent of the volumes arrive from Istanbul, consisting of ex-China cargo destined for Russia.
