Mar 31, 2008 (newstodate): Following a tender opened in September, 2007, the Bulgarian holding Chimimport has been selected by Tatarstan's government to become partner in a JV to modernise Tatartan's Kazan Airport and Tatarstan Airlines.
The Bulgarian partner will inject 50 mio US dollars of fresh capital while the Tatarstan side will contribute the current airport facilities.
Chimimport will now produce two scenarios for the airport's development based on either three or five million annual passengers, with the five-mio scenario being the preferred one.
Based on this, the JV will work out details for the airport's modernisation, and procurement of new infrastucture equipment and systems.
Chimimport will also be responsible for working out new plans for modernisation of Tatarstan Airlines, including procurement of new Boeing 737 aircraft.
