Mar 28, 2008 (newstodate): When conditions are right, Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport is keen to see Icelandair Cargo moving its freighter service from Norrkoping to Arlanda.
-Right now we are not able to handle Icelandair Cargo's shipments of Icelandic horses as we do not meet the requirements by the Swedish ministry of agriculture for on-site in-door booths to accomodate the 30-40 horses per flight, says Karsten Bjarbo, LFV Stockholm Arlanda cargo manager.
-We are, however, right now discussing an entirely new setup for our Border Inspection Post, aiming at integrating the EU and non-EU flows, and this will require the construction of an entirely new facility.
-This issue will be part of the plans for the new air cargo terminals at the airport, and this will entail a 12-18 months timeframe before Arlanda can again receive Icelandic horses. By then we hope to see Icelandair Cargo switching over to Arlanda, says Mr Bjarbo.
