Feb 29, 2008 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's Almaty International Airport sees bright prospects for a sustained increase in passenger and cargo traffic.
In 2007 the airport saw its passenger volumes up 15 percent, while cargo volumes increased by 48 percent, according to local sources.
Speaking at the arrival of the first flight by CSA from Prague to Almaty, the airport's first vice president said this spring will see the launch of flights between Almaty and new destinations Kiev in Ukraine, Riga in Latvia, Singapore and Sochi, Russia.
CSA now serves Almaty with two weekly Airbus A319 flights.
