Feb 21, 2008 (newstodate): Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi is preparing for the "imminent" first test flights of the SuperJet 100 aircraft.
The flight was earlier scheduled before the end of 2007, but the program ran into production delays.
The delay will hit also the aircraft's entry-into-service, originally slated before the end of this year, with Aeroflot as the first company to receive the new regional jet aircraft.
Aeroflot has placed firm orders for delivery of 30 SuperJets to be delivered in 2008-2012, with options for a further 20 units.
Other customers include Dalavia, Malev, Ural Airlines, IFLC, Armavia, and the Italian regional carrier, ItAli Airlines as the first western customer heralding a market for the price-efficient SuperJet among western operators as well.
