Feb 20, 2008 (newstodate): In 2007, Norway saw its flown export volumes of fresh salmon increasing by 29 percent, to a total of 65,132 tonnes.
The single most important market remained Japan that imported 24,722 tonnes of fresh Norwegian salmon - an increase by 12.3 percent, y-o-y.
In 2007 this corresponded to 38 percent of the total volume which, however, was down on 44 percent in 2006.
Hong Kong remained #2 destination, with 10,938 tonnes in 2007. This weas an increase by 15 percent, while the share dropped from 19 to 17 percent in 2007.
The US market was #3 with 5,822 tonnes in 2007, growing 51 percent in volume and constituting nine percent of totals in 2007 against eight in 2006.
#4 was China with 5,797 tonnes, up 47 percent in volume and growing from eight to nine percent in 2007.
#5 in 2007 was Taiwan that advanced from a position as #6 in 2007, overtaking Singapore that dropped to a position as #7.
