Feb 19, 2008 (newstodate): Moscow's Vnukovo Airport is seeking to strengthen its capital base to secure financing af new airport projects.
The airport company has secured a major loan by Bank of Moscow, and will embark on a series of projects to continue its modernisation.
The airport is seeing its passenger volumes rising steeply - up 33.1 percent in January, 2008, to 473,800, and rising especially in the intro-Russian segment that grew by 57.2 percent during the first month of this year.
In 2007, Moscow Vnukovo Airport generated a total of 22,767 tonnes of air cargo and mail, an increase by 12.5 percent, y-o-y.
Projects include a new passenger terminal to be opened in 2008, a new cargo and mail terminal to start construction from 2008, and extension by 800 m of one of the airport's runways.
