Feb 18, 2008 (newstodate): Effective from March 5, 2008, Stockholm will have a new direct, nonstop connection to Erbil, Kurdish Iraq.
The carrier to operate the route is Fly Iraquna that will operate a weekly service with Boeing 737 aircraft.
The carrier already flies from Erbil to London Gatwick, Dusseldorf and Athens and has plans for a range of other European destinations to follow.
Fly Iraquna also carries air cargo but has not yet named a cargo GSA in Scandinavia.
Also in the air on the route is Viking Airlines, flying for Res Nu i Stockholm, that operates between Stockholm and Erbil on a temporary permission expiring by March 29, 2008, and due for permanent status if no incidents occur.
From March 5, 2008, Viking Airlines will also start operations on a new route from Sweden to Baghdad, Iraq, but with a transit stop in Syria from where Iraq Airways will operate to and from Baghdad.
