Feb 20, 2008 (newstodate): Slovakia's Bratislava Airport is seeing its cargo volumes dramatically down.
Totalling some 5,000 tonnes in 2006, cargo volumes dropped to a mere 1,969 tonnes in 2007, excluding trucked cargo, while mail volumes, 104 tonnes in 2007, were slightly up on the 71 tonnes in 2006.
The market has probably been taken by near-by Vienna Airport in a process accelerating since Slovakia's entry into EU in 2004.
In 2003, prior to the entry, Bratislava Airport handled a total of 10,883 tonnes of cargo and 1,848 tonnes of mail.
