Feb 13, 2008 (newstodate): In January, 2008, Estonia's Tallinn Airport saw its cargo volumes soaring by no less than 224 percent, y-o-y.
The airport handled a total of 2,296 tonnes of cargo, including 2,218 tonnes of cargo and 78 tonnes of mail.
Tallinn Airport thus continued its dynamic growth through 2007 by 120 percent, to a total of 22,764 tonnes of cargo and mail.
Behind the sustained hike in cargo volumes are Chinese exports loads to Russia via the Baltic airports, where Tallinn Airport has currently taken the lead.
In 2007 Tallinn Airport saw charter volumes up from 4,877 tonnes in 2006 to 17,352, while Latvia's Riga Airport's charter loads fell from 5,970 tonnes in 2006 to 970 in 2007, and Lithuania's Vilnius Airport saw no cargo charter volumes at all.
