Feb 14, 2008 (newstodate): Russia's first low-cost carrier, Sky Express now claims a share of three percent of Russia's domestic air travel.
The carrier ended 2007 with a passenger volume at 680,000 transported between eight destinations, with Sochi and Kaliningrad scoring highest with 28 and 20 percent of the total volume, respectively.
Other destinations were Rostov-on-Don, 16 percent, Murmansk, about 12 percent, St Peterburg, 11 percent, Tyumen, 9,5 percent, and Ekaterinburg, about three percent.
-Our plans for 2008 aim at carrying 1.8 million passengers, producing 20,000 flights to 16 destinations, and attaining a share of seven percent in Russia's domestic market, says Vitaly Korenyugin, Skly Express spokesman.
Also in the plans is a continued growth of the Boeing 737 aircraft fleet, from nine by the end of 2007, to 16 by the end of 2008.
The carrier's long-term plan is to grab 25 percent of Russia's domestic market for air transportation.
