Feb 14, 2008 (newstodate): The remarkable growth by 224 percent in Estonia's Tallinn Airport's volumes in January was generated by a sustained boom in cargo charter operations.
Out of the airport's total of 2,218 tonnes of airfreight, 1,839 tonnes arrived on cargo charter aircraft, corresponding to 83 percent.
Most of the ex-China exports, destined for onward transportation to Russia, arrived via Istanbul, Turkey, that generated a total of 1,429 tonnes, or 78 percent of the cargo on chartered freighters.
