Dec 3, 2008 (newstodate): WFS sees its new contract with Singapore Airlines Cargo in the Nordic region as a major accomplishment.
-Our growth in Scandinavia since the opening of our new cargo terminal in Copenhagen has been tremendous and we have clearly demonstrated our commitment to the region, says Olivier Bijaoui, WFS President and CEO.
-Singapore Airlines Cargo has been with its previous supplier in Copenhagen since it first commenced operations into Denmark so winning this prestigious customer is a proud achievement for WFS.
The new contract replacing the earlier one with SAS Cargo Spirit and comprising Scandinavia and Finland takes effect from February 1, 2009, and a new ground handling contract with WFS at Copenhagen Airport will commence from the same date.
Singapore Airlines Cargo operates five freighter flights a week between Copenhagen and Singapore in addition to the belly-hold cargo capacity on Singapore Airlines' passenger services on the same route.
Counting flown and trucked import and export cargo as well as shipments exported via other European hubs, the airlines total volumes to and from the Nordic markets are approximately 40,000 tonnes per year.
