Dec 11, 2008 (newstodate): Aeroflot is eagerly awaiting the opening of the tender for privatisation of the Czech airline CSA.
Speaking to media, Aeroflot's general director expressed hopes that the tender will be opened very early in 2009 and confirmed Aeroflot's strong interest in the carrier.
While refusing to add a name, he confirmed that Aeroflot is also eyeing another European carrier for acquisition.
If all procedures are run according to schedule, a result from the CSA tender may be reached before summer 2009 already, sources say.
The Czech state will divest itself of its 91.51 percent stake in CSA that returned into the black in 2007 after a long period of recession.
