Dec 22, 2008 (newstodate): AirVolga is the new name of the Russian carrier Volga-Aviaexpress.
The carrier, based at Volgograd International Airport, will shortly take delivery of two ex-Independence Air CRJ-200 aircraft, and plans are to launch services to Prague, the Zcech Republic, and new destinations in Germany in 2009.
Also in the plans is delivery on a lease arrangement of two Boeing 737-500 aircraft during 2009.
The two CRJ-200 aircraft will replace five Russian-built TU-134 and YAK-42 aircraft.
Volga-Aviaexpress has been operating scheduled services to destinations in Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan
