Dec 18, 2008 (newstodate): Wether it likes it or not, the SAS Group will continue as co-owner of the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
Since this summer, SAS has been in talks with the Latvian government over acquisition of the Latvian state's 52.6 percent of the stock in airBaltic, securing it full ownership compared to its current 47.2 percent.
But the Latvian government refuses to sell the airline that it considers a national asset, while also lacking the financial resources to exercise its pre-emptive rights to acquire SAS' shares.
