Dec 15, 2008 (newstodate): Volga-AviaExpress, based at Volgograd, Russia, is in for a name-change.
From 2009, the carrier will be called AirVolga and take in its first two CRJ-200 aircraft, planning also to acquire a Boeing 737-500 aircraft in 2009.
The carrier currently operates a fleet of eight Russian aircraft including TU-134 and Yak-42 aircraft.
With its new aircraft fleet, AirVolga plans to open new routes from Volgograd to destinations in Germany, France and the Czech Republic, in addition to its current network comprising destinations in Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
