Dec 16, 2008 (newstodate): Despite the grim effects from the current world economic crisis, Swedish-Latvian forwarder Spedair remains upbeat about continued progress.
In August, 2008, Sweden's GreenCarrier International acquired 90 percent of the company, based at Riga, Latvia, with offices in Kiev, Ukraine, and Minsk, Belarusia reporting to the Riga-office.
-I am very optimistic about these changes and look forward to future development rather positively despite the ongoing crises around, says Inga Brasla, Spedair CEO and owner of the remaining 10 percent of the shares.
-Our staff receives good training at the parent company, and we do look forward to including the logistics and customer service systems of our parent company as well. Despite the bad economic situation around we have added two more sales people during last couple of months, and our airfreight team now comprises five young persons.
-The year 2008 has been very different and no two months look the same. But over-all 2008 has been even a little better than 2007, and the airfreight profitability has grown by 16 percent, y-o-y.
Spedair now offers one-stop services including airfreight, international and domestic road freight, ocean freight, customs brokering, and warehousing.
