Dec 1, 2008 (newstodate): Amidst the general down-turn in the Icelandic economy, Icelandair Cargo still sees glimpses of light in the situation.
-The good news for us is that export has in general been increasing during the last few weeks in comparison to last year, says Gunnar Mar Sigurfinnsson, Icelandair Cargo Managing Director.
-Also due to the weak Icelandic currency we are seeing 5-10 percent increase in exports and that is partly making up for the difficult situation we are dealing with.
-However, import is still very weak because of the currency problems in Iceland, but now we hope that things will improve after Iceland has obtained loans from IMF, Scandinavia and other countries to work on the economical crisis after the collapse of Iceland's banks.
