Dec 4, 2008 (newstodate): Troubled carrier Estonian Air, based at Tallinn Airport, has announced plans to cut staff and aircraft fleet from 2009.
Flying in the red, the carrier will lay off 63 employees and replace most of its fleet of six Boeing 737 aircraft with smaller CRJ 900 aircraft.
SAS is eager to take over the Estonian state's stake in the airline and already holds 49 percent of the shares.
So far, the Estonian state has however been unwilling to let go of its 34 percent stake in the carrier.
