Dec 10, 2008 (newstodate): The time-gap between competing new aircraft, Boeing 787 with some 1,000 orders and Airbus A350 XWB with almost 500 orders is narrowing as Boeing admits delays to the Dreamliner program.
The Boeing 787 will now probably have its first flight in summer 2009, while Airbus plans for the A350 to perform its first flight in early 2012.
Boeing plans to perform its first Dreamliner delivery to All Nippon Airlines in late 2010, while Airbus plans to deliver its first A350 to Qatar Airways by mid-2013.
Airbus will break ground for its A350 Final Asembly Line in Toulouse on January 14, 2009.
