Dec 18, 2008 (newstodate): Norway's export by air transportation of fresh salmon to the major markets in Asia is declining in 2008.
Japan remained Norway's single largest market, but it declined by 21.4 percent, y-o-y, in volumes to 13,172 tonnes during the first 11 months of 2008.
Hong Kong increased by 11.4 percent to 9,858 tonnes, but with 4,708 tonnes the Chinese market remained unchanged against last year.
Taiwan dropped 11.6 percent to 3,060 tonnes, and Korea was also down by 22.7 percent, to 2,247 tonnes during the period.
Norway's fresh salmon exports to the USA were almost totally wiped out in 2008, down by 91 percent, y-o-y, to only 171 tonnes.
