Nov 6, 2008 (newstodate): The world financial and ecomic crisis took a heavy toll on the market for over-size air transportation.
Sources say the market decreased by 20 percent, y-o-y, in October, and is not expected to recover in the remaining few months of 2008.
In the case of Ukraine's Antonov Airlines that is, together with Volga-Dnepr, among the leading carriers in the industry, the market increased by 15 percent in 2008 prior to the emergence of the current crisis in October.
The world's out-size cargo marked, served by some 144 ramp-loading aircraft, accounts for some 114,000 tonnes of freight per year, expected to rise by about eight percent annually, or above current estimates for non-ramp freighter volumes.
