Nov 7, 2008 (newstodate): In January-August, 2008, Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport maintained its position as the largest cargo airport in the capital region.
With a total of 116,784 tonnes of cargo, Sheremetyevo outperformed Moscow Domodedovo International Airport's total of 95,846 tonnes, and Moscow Vnukovo's total of 18,078 tonnes.
Sheremetyevo's leading position stems from its predominance in the international air cargo segment, comprising 79 percent of total volumes, or 91,978 tonnes.
Domodedovo leads in the domestic cargo segment with 58,058 tonnes, corresponding to 61 percent of the airport's total volume in the period.
Moscow Vnukovo's total volumes were dominated by 15,634 tonnes of domestic cargo, corresponding to 86 percent.
