Nov 13, 2008 (newstodate): The Russian carrier UTAir is mulling plans for setting up a subsidiary in Ukraine.
Once licensed, the subsidiary would benefit from a lower cost base, compared to Russian conditions, and would not be charged for import taxes on aircraft.
A further benefit would be that the planned subsidiary would be able to operate under the horizontal air services agreement with EU allowing for free access to EU markets.
AS a first step, UTAir will apply for Ukrainean licenses to operate Ukraine-registered ATR-42 and ATR-72 aircraft.
