Nov 21, 2008 (newstodate): Russia's Chelyabinsk Balandino Airport is planning a major development project.
In the plans is the construction of a new passenger terminal, due to be opened in 2011 with an anual capacity of handling two mio passengers.
Also in the project are plans for modernising the apron, taxiway and runway with new lighting systems, to be completed before the end of 2010.
Chelyabinsk Bandino Airport has a 3,200 m runway and serves as a secondary hub for S7 Airlines.
The full development project runs till 2016 with a USD 139 mio budget, with financing shared between state, region and private investors.
