Nov 21, 2008 (newstodate): The current global financial and economic crisis is putting a final decision in construction of a new air cargo terminal at Helsinki on hold.
-Before the end of this year, Finnair Cargo will finalise the functional plans for the coming terminal project, but the actual start-up date for the construction may be postponed to await the emergence of a clearer picture of the global economical envirounment and, especially, the trends of the global air cargo market, says a top-ranking Finnair Cargo executive.
In its initial phase, the new terminal is expected to be able to handle up to 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually, sources say.
