Nov 24, 2008 (newstodate): On November 22, 2008, USA and Armenia signed a new air services agreement.
The agreement introduces open skies between the two markets, and will allow carriers from both sides to open commercial traffic based on pure business considerations, and also allows future commercial agremeents between airlines including code-sharing.
Unconfirmed reports have earlier stated that Armavia is in the process of acquiring one Airbus A330 aircraft to facilitate the opening of a new route between Yerevan, Armavia, and New York and Los Angeles.
