Nov 12, 2008 (newstodate): The Boeing 737-300F had a short career with Aeroflot Cargo that introduced its first of two aircraft in February, 2008.
The second units was introduced in April, and the carrier announced plans for adding more Boeing 737-300F freighters.
But both aircraft have now been handed back to the leasing company, GECAS.
-One of the reasons that Aeroflot Cargo has stopped operating the Boeing 737 freighter was its negative economic results in our operations because of market trends and fuel prices. Also it did not match our present strategy for general cargo and express operations, says Natalya Rusakova, Aeroflot Cargo spokeswoman.
-It started flights from Moscow to Europe and Near & Middle East quite successfully, but unfortunately these features were not adequate to sustain positive results.
-Then our early plans to use two Boeing 737 freighters as feeder aircraft into regional hubs like Khabarovsk were not studied quite carefully enough, taking into consideration the obligation to pay customs duties on two imported aircraft, says Ms Rusakova.
