Oct 28, 2008 (newstodate): Early in October, the Moscow-based Russian construction company Krismar landed a contract for the first stage of the planned reconstruction of Voronezh International Airport.
This stage comprises renovation of the 2,300 m runway, the runway drainage system and runway lighting system.
A second tender is planned to be opned in 2009, comprising extension by 300 m of the runway as well as construction of new airport terminals.
Both stages in the reconstruction may, however, be suspended as the financial crisis may put a halt to the government's plans for renovation of 14 regional airports, including also Voronezh International Airport.
