Oct 16, 2008 (newstodate): Providing a glimpse of light for troubled aircraft manufacturer Boeing, still in a limbo due to weeks of labour action, American Airlines has announced its intent to purchase 42 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
The carrier will reportedly receive the new aircraft during 2010-18, and has also obtained options for delivery of a further 58 Dreamliner aircraft for delivery during 2015-2020.
The first carrier to receive and operate the Boeing 787 will be ANA that now expects to receive its first aircraft in August, 2009 - 15 months later than originally scheduled.
