Oct 3, 2008 (newstodate): Swedish cargo carrier West Air Sweden is open for new business with its fleet of ATP and ATR-72 freighers.
-Our core business is to provide uplift capacity for a range of postal and express customers, but this leaves potentials to be tapped, says Hans Nilsson, West Air Sweden VP sales & marketing.
-Gerally speaking, our aircraft spend four hours flying and two hours during ground handling, leaving an 18 hours window of opportunity on a daily basis.
-We have now launched our first scheduled twice-weekly ATP cargo flight between Stavanger and Aberdeen, operating for companies in the off-shore business, and we are probing into other markets, such as the pharma industry, to seek similar ventures for optimising the utilisation of our aircraft.
-The main problem, however, is achieving the commitment from customers necessary to set up new operations. Such ventures would also add to the complexity of our over-all operational pattern, but we are keen to seek new challenges, says Mr Nilsson.
