Oct 21, 2008 (newstodate): SAS expects to launch services with its first Bombardier CRJ-900NG in December, 2008.
As part of the solution to the airline's grounding of its entire fleet of 27 Q400 aircraft after landing gear incidents in the autumn of 2007, SAS placed 13 firm orders for CRJ900 NextGen plus options for 17, and 14 Q400 NextGen plus options for seven additional aircraft.
Scandinavian Airlines and Estonian Air will use the CRJ900 NextGen, and Wideroe and airBaltic will use the Q400 NextGen.
SAS plans to introduce the CRJ900 aircraft on Danish domestic routes, later to be followed by intra-Scandinavian and European routes.
