Oct 3, 2008 (newstodate): After years in limbo, Sweden's Kallax Cargo Airport project may finally see its first success looming on the horizon.
With Ole Nordstrom as is director marketing, the company has been negotiating with potential export customers in Sweden, Norway and Finland, and plans are now being tied up for launch of a scheduled freighter service from Kallax to yet-unpublished Asian destinations, including China and Taiwan.
The news was prematurely broken at yesterday's Nordic Air Cargo Symposium at Gothenburg, and was later confirmed by the company and by an LFV representative.
Behind the revived project are salmon exporters from Northern Norway as well as other exporters in Northern Sweden and neighbouring Finland.
Plans are to announce the carrier already involved in the project before the end of this year, and start operations from spring 2009.
The service will be part of a triangular flight that will carry no imports into Kallax.
