Oct 24, 2008 (newstodate): Norway's IATA export cargo volumes to its single largest salmon market in Japan fell during the first half of this year.
The total volumes decreased by 24.8 percent, y-o-y, to 8,311 tonnes.
Taken together China, Hong Kong and Taiwan almost equal the Japanese market as to Norwegian salmon exports, and this market grew only 2.8 percent, to 10,506 tonnes.
IATA exports to Korea fared better with a 7.6 percent increase to 3,336 tonnes, while IATA exports to markets in SE Asia were up eight percent to 4,752 tonnes.
Norway's IATA exports to the North American market dropped 11.1 percent to 3,533 tonnes during the same period.
