Oct 3, 2008 (newstodate): The Serbian carrier JAT did not succeed in attracting a buyer for its 51 percent stake put up for sale in the belated tender this year.
Aeroflot had earlier announced its keen interested in taking over the stake, but eventually the value of JAT was found to be vastly overrated, and all participants in the tender eventually retreated.
It is thus now up to the Serbian state to secure the future of the troubled and debt-ridden carrier that is in dire need for new aircraft to replace is fleet of old Boeing 737 aircraft.
