Oct 30, 2008 (newstodate): Nagorno-Karabagh's Stepanakert Airport will soon be opened for commercial traffic.
Stepanakert Airport, in the disputed Nagorno-Karabagh region, under de-facto Armenian control since the war with Azerbaijan in the 90ies, has been inoperative for 20 years, but plans are to reopen it with flights from Yerevan, Armenia.
In a first phase, however, traffic will be restricted to commercial helicopter operations.
Plans are to launch services before summer 2009, when used equipment from the airports of Stepanavan and Gyumri, Armenia, has been installed at Stepanakert Airport.
