Oct 6, 2008 (newstodate): The airlift operation to send 20,000 pigs from Denmark to Russia's Krasnodar and Tambov Regions, originally slated to start autumn 2007, is now being planned for launch in spring, 2009.
-The plans remain as firm as ever, but we have had to adjust to requirements by the Russian authorities, says Frank Wennerberg, Dan-Invest.
-To open our pig farm facilities, now completed at Krasnodar and Tambov, with imported pigs would require an extra six-months application period, so we have decided to start up instead with Danish imported pigs already in Russia, taking in the new batches of imported Danish pigs only after we have had our going pig farm operation confirmed.
-We thus expect to start the uplift of pigs from Billund Airport, Denmark, by spring, with shipments of 500 pigs per freighter operation, says Mr Wennerberg
